" I think the bednest is a wonderful idea. It gave me a lovely feeling to be so close to Fern and to be able to watch over her and touch her whenever I wanted. I’ll never forget those first few nights as we settled down together, side-by-side. I felt so safe and relaxed about everything. I could feed her whenever she showed she needed it, almost without moving in my bed. Lying there smiling at her every morning is perfect!"

" Before we got the bednest , Ian was sleeping in another room and Jamie was sleeping with me because he flatly refused to sleep anywhere too far away from mum! Even a basket pulled right up alongside the bed. Once we got the bednest things improved hugely because Ian could move back. Jamie slept in the bednest and I could pull him into bed for a feed when needed and then he was unaware when I slipped him back into the bednest. He would always wake up if I tried to move him into a basket but the bednest location enabled us, with a bit of practice, to get him in and out without waking him. It certainly does not wake his father, so when people ask if Jamie is sleeping through the night, I tell them no, but his dad is! Which is important as Ian is back at work and has pretty long hours, whereas Jamie and I have daytime naps. Its important Ian gets his sleep.
The other advantage is it meant I persevered with breast feeding. A number of my friends with children the same age struggled with night feeds. They are horrified at the on demand "schedule" Jamie has which can be as often as every hour some nights. This is because their babies are in nurseries down the hall so when baby wakes up they have to get up, get baby, go to the feeding chair and then put the baby back down. I just dozily pull Jamie over to me, he has his feed and I just move him back when he’s done. Half the time I am not even awake enough to feel inconvenienced. My friends coped by adding formula feeds to their routine at night to encourage baby to sleep through earlier . Others introduced pacifiers to try to keep baby happy delaying the feed. I think the bednest really helped me stick to my guns with breast feeding, with the result that five and a half month old Jamie is 7.5 kilos and pretty much 100% breast fed. He started out at four kilos so this is a great achievement."

" For my husband and I the bednest was the perfect solution to our new sleeping arrangements.
When our daughter Betty was born I wanted her in the bed with us but in practice my husband couldn’t relax for fear of rolling on to her. For two weeks she was ferried between our bed and her moses basket - neither of which were restful for any of us.
We began using the bednest when Betty was two weeks old and immediately our sleeping and hers improved and breastfeeding became a lot easier. When she stirred from her slumber I would reach out and rest my hand on her chest or hold her tiny hand and she would be soothed back to sleep. It was reassuring for both of us as we could see, hear and touch each other all the time.
Our daughter is such a happy, contented and cheeky little baby and I feel sure in part it is due to her having slept beside me for 4 months. She has so much confidence and we are so incredibly close. Every morning she would wake me up with a great big smile on her face - it’s the stuff memories are made of!
The bednest is fantastic value for money. We spent around £150 on a moses basket and bedding and stand, then a further £100 on a travel cot that included a bassinet so we could use it from birth. The bednest is so transportable. Most weekends we went to stay with relatives - we just folded up her bednest and went! We didn’t even need to strip off the bedclothes! In 4 months of using the bednest we haven’t used the travel cot or moses basket once!
The bednest is very stylish and unique in design. It isn’t intrusive so doesn’t take over our bedroom. When not in use I push it up against the wall so I have free floor space. The shelf underneath is handy to store spare bedding and muslins.
I think it would be wonderful if the bednest was either made extendable (I don’t know how) or in a variety of sizes. Although Betty has made the transition into her cot easily I would have loved to have bed shared for longer - maybe even until the age of two. I miss waking up beside her as she’s smiling at me and falling asleep to the sound of her breathing. I feel that the bednest reinforces the bond between mother and baby. She is my little companion all day and all night - the way I believe nature intended."

" We received our bednest in time for the birth of our first baby, Hannah, at Sandton Medi Clinic in South Africa. The staff on the Maternity ward were hesitant at first about letting us use it, but when they saw how well it worked, and how easy it was for a new mum (recovering from a Caesarean section) to use, they were all very impressed. We also became the envy of some other new mums on the ward. By the time we left, requests were being submitted by nursing staff to the hospital management to introduce the bednest throughout the maternity ward.
We have used the bednest constantly since then. Having our daughter sleeping right next to us but in her own separate unit is so reassuring and makes breast feeding at night so relaxed and easy. And it travels with us wherever we go."

" I am just writing to let you know how wonderful I think the bednest is.
My baby daughter was born by emergency caesarian last week after a horrendous 16 hour labour where we nearly lost her. She was distressed and in shock in the hospital and the midwife said that it might take a while for her to calm down because of her birth.
Since we have been home, I have held her constantly in the daytime and at night she sleeps in the bednest where I can hold her hand and talk softly to her when she whimpers. For the past 5 nights now, she has slept soundly through the night in her bednest and hasn't cried once. I am convinced this is because she knows I am just a breath away.
I think this is an absolutely marvellous product! It has made such a difference to our baby. Thank you so much to all the people who developed this product for the public.
From a very grateful new mum!"
